The redevelopment of the Sorell School incorporated a variety of new primary and early years playspaces. Early master plan explorations of the school’s history and its farming connections had steered the design of the spaces towards a natural, more rural style of space, so designer Playstreet, was looking for equipment with a mainly timber component and one that would blend with a natural style of landscape.
The children had also been consulted in terms of the equipment they wanted in their space and our partner Lappset’s play equipment ticked all of the boxes, as well as being sympathetic to a very constrained budget. Three distinct climbing towers now grace the schoolyard, catering to a range of ages. Younger children can explore the wonders of climbing at their own pace, while older kids can test their skills on challenging swings and climbing structures.
Sorell School is thrilled with the new playspace, expertly installed by SLS Landscape Group, praising both its fun factor and aesthetic.
