Lappset’s Gnomes Climbing Forest and Troll’s Trees were selected for their natural aesthetic and diverse play opportunities when the Rockhampton Regional Council, in collaboration with Urbis, set about resurrecting the city’s renowned Kershaw Gardens, ravaged by Cyclone Yasi in 2013. The Gnome’s Climbing Forest consists of seven climbing posts, two vertical climbing nets and one leaning net. Children can traverse it from one end to the other. It fits a large number of kids at one time, making for sociable play. The pleasant natural rope material and the fun design provide new climbing and hanging challenges. The Troll’s Trees consist of three upright posts and two bars at different levels. These tree-like elements develop the children’s motor and social skills.
