The newly completed playground at Henty Street, Pakenham, is a vibrant addition to the ongoing Level Crossing Removal Project, transforming a previously underutilised open space into a dynamic recreational area for the local community. Designed in collaboration with Metro Trains and Tract Consultants, this innovative play area reflects the cultural heritage of the area and promotes inclusive, multi-age engagement.
The highlight of the space is the bespoke gold tubular climbing structure by Spiel-Bau, inspired by the traditional Aboriginal eel trap. Spanning 9 meters, this durable 304 stainless steel masterpiece is fully enclosed with nets, creating a safe yet adventurous environment for children. Its design features an obstacle course, hanging rings, a 3-meter ring, and a tapered tunnel, delivering an exciting mix of physical challenge and imaginative play.
Complementing the climbing structure, a stainless steel double swing and basket swing frame, finished in the same striking gold, provide opportunities for active and social play, appealing to children of all ages. For younger adventurers, a stainless steel embankment slide offers a perfect combination of safety and excitement, while dynamic play rockers from Lappset add movement-based fun to the mix.
