This Seniors Exercise Park within Carrington Park is the first of its kind for Knox, and was delivered in partnership with the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) and Knox City Council. It was designed and installed with specialised exercise equipment from our partner Lappset and is an age-friendly outdoor space for seniors to socialise and engage in physical activity.
The seniors exercise area incorporates further supporting works, to provide a turn-key installation for council. Works also included bench seating, drinking fountain, shade provision and safety surfacing. There are 16 different exercise stations including step up, walking ramp and net, small wave bar, shoulder arches, wave bar, balance beam, taps on platform, core twister, gangway, finger stairs, stretch bar, balance stool, pull-up, hand roll, sit to stand and stairs; all of which assist seniors in the community improve their balance, strength, mobility, and function.
There are clear and easy to understand instructions at each station as well as a QR code that can be scanned on smartphones that links to video demonstrations for on the spot set by step instructions.
